Unmute is a powerful initiative mobilizing artists to create a movement against rape culture. Through art, we amplify voices, challenge norms, and demand concrete action from cultural operators, institutions, governments, and society at large.
Together, we embody Triple A: Artists Against Abuse, proving that art can spark change. Let’s keep the conversation alive and the action ongoing. #UNMUTE #ArtistsAgainstAbuse #TripleA #EndRapeCulture”

UNMUTE MONTHLY TALKS
Our goal is to transform the culture of sexual violence in the art sector in Rwanda and create a safer, more inclusive environment for artists of all identities, generations, and backgrounds.
Objective:
Delve into the cultural, legal, and social factors that perpetuate impunity around GBV in Rwanda.
⇒ In Rwanda, more than in other countries, a complex interplay of cultural, legal and social factors contributes to the impunity of gender-based violence. Although legal frameworks and mechanisms (Isange One Stop Center) have been put in place, traditional social norms often stigmatize victims. Some cultural attitudes normalize violence against women and hinder progress in the fight against GBV, leaving survivors unsupported and marginalized. To effectively combat GBV, it is essential to address these issues holistically, taking into account Rwanda’s cultural and social factors and history.

UNMUTE MONTHLY TALKS
a blend of talks, collaborative discussions, and artistic performances aimed at building awareness, creating dialogue, and mobilizing the arts sector
