About Us
Who we are ?
Rwandan Safe Events is a group of Rwandans and locals dedicated to fighting gender-based violence, harassment and assault.
Our mission is to promote inclusion and tolerance by using our vibrant cultural and festive gatherings as platforms to combat and address inappropriate behaviour.
We invite you to support our activities (see above) and work with us to create safer spaces in nightclubs, concerts, festivals and beyond.
Let’s also work together towards an inclusive Rwandan society that values and listens to every individual.
Let’s transform festivals, nightclubs and concerts into exceptional spaces for GBV prevention and positive masculinity!
Let’s help venues and promoters to implement best practices: Safe Zone, Safe Space policies, awareness raising and training for staff and management to transform rwandan venues into places for education and prevention of GBV and harassment.
Contact us today to help us design and implement effective strategies for a safer, more supportive community.
The Rwandan Safe Events website is hosted and managed by SUWEDI, a Rwandan company, under the legal and editorial direction of Bruno Gouteux, who initiated the project.
What we do ?
→ While festivals, nightclubs and concerts are often places where inappropriate behaviour and harassment occur, we have an opportunity to transform them into spaces for the prevention of gender-based violence (GBV) and the promotion of positive masculinity, key places for education and awareness-raising.
⇒ Rwandan Safe Events assists event organisers in the implementation of optimal practices, including the establishment of Safe Zones, Safe Space Policies, and the provision of staff training, with the objective of ensuring that festivals and venues promote education on Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and harassment prevention.
→ Artists and influencers have the potential to play an active role in inspiring transformative change within communities, and can have a positive impact. By leveraging their social media platforms, they can amplify messages that challenge harmful norms, promote positive masculinity, and raise awareness about gender-based violence.
⇒ Rwandan Safe Events supports artists in their engagement and role in the prevention of gender-based violence and the promotion of positive masculinity.
Through collaboration, resources, and platforms, we aspire to empower artists to utilise their creativity to challenge harmful norms, raise awareness, and inspire cultural shifts towards gender equality and non-violence.
